Taking a trip

My husband and I are heading to Vermont soon just in time for leaf-peeping season and we are sooooo excited about this trip! It is our first vacation alone, just the two of us ... NO kids! We have gotten out the state map and, with help from a friend, we have some adventures planned. We aren't sure what we will do day-by-day because a lot depends upon the weather. Luckily, Vermont is a small state so we should be able to experience all of it in the 6 days we are there.

I am so excited to stay with a childhood friend that I haven't seen in almost 40 years! It was her idea that we come visit and stay with her and her husband in their downstairs apartment. She is very centrally located which is going to make our day trips that much more fun because we aren't hours and hours from anywhere! We also plan to take one day and drive over to the White Mountains in New Hampshire and visit that area as well.

From what I can gather, we are going to hit Vermont near peak season for viewing some spectacular fall foliage. Fall is my favorite season so this is going to be a very special vacation where we will make some memories to last a lifetime!

What I've Been Doing Lately

Our weather this week is giving us a little taste of the cooler temperatures to come. I've been wearing jeans and warmer tops and loving every minute of it. Autumn is my favorite season and I wish it lasted forever! My husband and I are starting to hike on Saturday mornings and boy, I can really feel it in my legs for a few days after! Last Saturday, I took along a small bag and collected nature items that had fallen to the trail floor. When I got home, I rearranged them into a naturescape and it turned out beautifully! I hope to make another one once the leaves start changing colors.

I've been working on several crochet projects. I have finished the main part of my hobo bag. I need to finish the top solid blue bordering and line it then add handles. I plan to have it done within the next month. I used King Cole Riot yarn in color Urban. I will be making another one for my mom this fall as well.

I finally got my mom to help me line a tote bag I crocheted in March. I definitely need to learn how to use my sewing machine! I'm currently crocheting thin strips from each of 25 colorways of King Cole Drifter yarn. They will be put together using the pattern Super Fine Sampler. This blanket will go on the back of our couch for use during cool evenings watching TV. I will post pictures of these items in a later post.

I plan to make this blanket during the warmer months ... the pattern link for the Chunky Monkey blanket was in my email and I already have the Stylecraft Special Chunky in my stash! It is just stunning ... so many gorgeous patterns that I want to make and I doubt I will ever be able to make them all ... so many talented crocheters in the world and I'm very glad that Internet is around so they can share their beautiful creations with us.

I've been feeling very tired these past few weeks. I know it's because I am eating food that I shouldn't be. Bleh. My joints and muscles are achy and I feel like napping in the afternoon so I know that I need to clean things up again. I can do it, but it takes so much effort to avoid all of the foods that trigger pain in my body. We have a vacation planned soon and it's difficult to eat well when a lot of meals come from restaurants. I will do my best, but I know it won't be perfect.

Well, that is what has been going on with me recently. I hope all is well with you!
